would you mind doing something? 의 형태로 쓰여 상대방에게 뭔가를 정중히 부탁할때 사용하기 좋은 표현입니다.
~해 주시겠습니까? ~해 주시겠어요? 등으로 해석됩니다.
* mind 는 ~을 싫어한다는 의미로 would you mind doing sth? 은 '~하는 거 싫으시나요?' 가 되지만 속뜻은 '~해주셔도 괜찮을까요?' 하고 간접적으로 뭔가를 요청하는 표현입니다. 이에 괜찮다고 답변하려면 No, not at all. (싫지 않다, 괜찮다) 혹은 Yeah, sure. (요청한 것에 대한 긍정적 답변) 어느쪽으로 답해도 상관없지만 말하는 톤과 태도가 중요합니다.
